Head in the Clouds

Otis College of Art and Design hosted a campus-wide mural competition. My submission was selected and became a 100″ x 100″ vinyl installation on the 2nd floor in the Ahmanson building.

The concept of the illustration is based on how all creative projects start at the drawing board, whether it’s with quick sketches or notes. The narrative of the image begins with a person working out ideas on paper. Those ideas lead them to Otis, which opens up a world of opportunities and resources. The objects within the giant thinking cloud represent a variety of materials from each department at Otis. There is symbolism representing Communication Arts, Product Design, Fashion Design, Architecture, Fine Arts, Digital Media, and Toy Design. The illustration also makes a reference to the close proximity to LAX and draws from personal experiences and inspirations.
